FREDERICK, Md.—Representatives from more than 30 local nonprofit and service organizations will be at Hood College to recruit volunteers and acquaint Frederick community members with services offered by their organizations.
The annual community service fair, which will be held Sept. 4 from 11:30 a.m. to
1:30 p.m. in the Commons Room in the College's Whitaker Campus Center, will offer a free forum for local community members, as well as students, faculty and staff to meet with organizations' representatives to learn about volunteer and internship opportunities and services available in the Frederick area.
Local organizations that focus on diverse issues such as therapeutic services, animal welfare, at-risk youth, sustainable biofuels, immigration services, disease and health care education and services, domestic violence prevention and services, legal affairs, historic preservation, disability services, food and housing for the disadvantaged, literacy and equality will be among those on hand to discuss their programs.
