FREDERICK, Md.—The Hood College Dance Ensemble spring concert will be held April 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Hodson Auditorium in Rosenstock Hall.
The performances, which are free and open to the public, will feature student and guest artists and guest performers.
Choreographers include Hood students April Hoffman, dance co-captain, who created a combination of a jazz and tap dance piece to “Club Can’t Handle Me”; senior Brigid Truitt, who choreographed a modern piece to “King of Anything” by Sara Bareilles; junior Samantha Gertner, who created a lyrical dance to “Le Sort de Circe”; sophomore Stephanie Weaver, who choreographed a unique contemporary piece for the ensemble; and Fran Marsili, artistic director, who choreographed a new high-energy piece to “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow” by Paula Abdul.
The program will include a lyrical dance number to “Boy With a Coin” by dance co-captain Lilly Frazer, accompanied by guitarist Micah Edmond.
Guest choreographers and performers include former dance ensemble member and current member of the Equinox Dance Company, Sarah Hashemzadeh, who choreographed a contemporary piece to music by Beethoven; former dance ensemble captain Lauren Proctor, who
has created a special dance for the seniors; and award-winning Irish dancer Casey Duffy, who will perform and a special performance by the Equinox Dance Company.
