FREDERICK, Md.—An exhibition of large-scale, wood-fired ceramic storage vessels will be on display May 18 through June 3 in the Hodson Gallery at Hood College.
"Legacy" will showcase the work of Kentucky resident Matthew Gaddie. There will be a reception and brief artist talk May 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the gallery, which is open daily from
9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Each of Gaddie’s unique functional vessels reflects the simple rural agricultural life and traditions he grew to admire as a child. The contemporary ceramic storage jars illustrate the connection he has between the rural, hard-working days of his youth and his life today as a potter.
Gaddie earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in ceramics from the University of Evansville. His work is exhibited in galleries in Kentucky, North Carolina and Tennessee.
