Oct. 28: Dance ensemble presents fall concert

FREDERICK, Md.—The Hood College Dance Ensemble will perform its fall concerts Nov. 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Hodson Auditorium in Rosenstock Hall at Hood College.

The performances, which are free and open to the public, will feature student and guest artists and guest performers.

Choreographers include Hood students Rachel Coyle, Samantha Gertner and April Hoffman, ensemble captain; Francine Marsili, director of dance and artistic director of the ensemble; and Sarah Hashemzadeh, guest choreographer and former ensemble member. Guest performers include award-winning Irish dancer Casey Duffy and the Equinox Dance Company.

The program will include a rhythmic tap number to “It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing” by Hoffman; a stylized-jazz piece to the music “Hot Shot,” choreographed by Marsili; a modern ballet to “Cherry Blossom,” created by Coyle; a pas de deux by Gertner; and a ballet solo. Donations will be accepted at the door.
