Sept. 2: Scholarship donors, recipients recognized

Tuesday, September 2, 2014

FREDERICK, Md.—The first recipients of and donors to a scholarship benefitting Afghan women pursuing graduate studies in the sciences at Hood College were recognized recently.

The Allemall Foundation and Hood College Board of Trustees member Susan Whaley, an alumna from the class of 1974, established The Afghan Women Scholarship fund in 2012. Foundation leaders Ed and Cathy Scott and Julia Soistman, along with recipients Aria Kazim and Maryam Faiz, who began coursework this fall in the information technology program, were introduced at the international graduate students welcome reception in August.

The Afghan Women Scholarship fund is open to additional gifts from donors, either directly or through their estates.

For more information or to donate to the fund, contact the alumni office at alumoffice@hood.edu or call 800-707-5280.
