FREDERICK, Md.—The ninth annual Randall Family Concert will held Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Brodbeck Music Hall at Hood College.
The concert will feature the Lester family—RoseAnn Markow Lester, violin; Marie Lester Loy, soprano; David Lester, double bass; and Noel Lester, piano—along with Denise Nathanson, cello. They will perform a program of music by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Gliere and a composition written for the Lesters, To Music! by Wayne Wold, associate professor of music and College organist.
The Lester family has given numerous concerts and has made two critically acclaimed Christmas CDs, Christmas with the Lesters and Rejoice! Another Christmas with the Lesters. They have appeared at a number of area churches, Hood College and annually at Buckingham's Choice community.
Noel Lester has performed as a piano soloist, chamber musician and vocal accompanist in international and local venues and in distinguished New York concert halls. He has more than 15 CDs to his credit.
RoseAnn Lester has been an active chamber and orchestral musician and is well known for her appearances in Hood's Summer Chamber Music Festival and as concertmistress of the College's annual Messiah performances.
Loy, an alumna of the College, has performed numerous leading roles with Maryland Concert Opera and has twice performed as soprano soloist in Hood's Messiah.
David Lester, an alumnus of the College, performs classical concerts and appears regularly as a member of the Kevin Lewis Quartet and with his own funk band.
Denise Nathanson is the former principal cellist of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and has performed often with Noel and RoseAnn Lester.
The Randall family concerts are made possible by a generous gift from Hood alumna and former trustee Frances Delaplaine Randall, who is celebrating her 90th birthday that day, in honor of her family.
