Sept. 24: Concert features Peabody students performing Beethoven sonatas

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

FREDERICK, Md.—Four advanced pianists enrolled in the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore will present an evening of Beethoven sonatas Tuesday, October 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Brodbeck Music Hall at Hood College.

The concert is designed to give a glimpse of the breadth and range of Beethoven's piano sonata output and to show the progression of his style from early masterpieces to his late works. The program includes Op. 10, No. 3, Op. 31, No. 2 ("The Tempest"), Op. 57 ("Appassionata") and Op. 110.

The four performers were nominated by the piano faculty at Peabody as being among the best in the program. They are Sangpil Kim, Sooji Han, Jade Huang and Yejin Lee. Each of the young pianists has won an impressive array of awards and distinctions and all show the potential for successful careers as performing pianists.

The recital is free and no tickets are required. Brodbeck is fully handicapped accessible.
