FREDERICK, Md.—Hood’s choir, chamber singers and instrumental ensembles will present end-of-semester concerts in April.
The Hood Choir, under the direction of Lynn Staininger, will perform Mozart’s “Requiem Mass,” April 12 at 3 p.m. in Brodbeck Music Hall. The Requiem will be sung in Latin and accompanied by a full orchestra. Soloists include soprano Lisa Duva-Dodson, mezzo-soprano Katelyn Jackman and tenor Andrew Rosenfeld. Four Hood Choir students—Bethany Gilton, Anna Kovacsics, Joshua Boyer and Ethan Peterson—will perform the “Benedictus” quartet.
The concert is free and no tickets are required; seating is limited.
Other concerts include:
- The wind ensemble, under the direction of Brian Hinkley, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Coffman Chapel;
- The early music ensemble, directed by William Simms, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Brodbeck Music Hall;
- The jazz ensemble, directed by J. Kevin Lewis, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Coffman Chapel; and
- The chamber singers, under the direction of Lynn Staininger and conducted by senior Ethan Peterson; and the string ensemble, directed by RoseAnn Lester, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Brodbeck Music Hall. The chamber singers, accompanied by a jazz trio, will present “By the Light of the Moon,” a jazz concert featuring songs about the mystical and whimsical beauty of the moon.
