FREDERICK, Md.—The second of four senior art exhibits will be on display April 3-12 in the Whitaker Campus Center Gallery at Hood College.
The reception for the exhibitions is April 3 from 5 to 7 p.m., and the artists’ gallery talks are at 6:15 p.m. The gallery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“Your Move” is a ceramics exhibit of functional pottery by Janny Kim, featuring a chess pieces.
Kim, who transferred to Hood College from Howard Community College, is pursuing her bachelor of arts degree in art and archaeology with a studio arts concentration and a focus on ceramics.
“In the Zone” is a photography-based graphic arts exhibit by Maggie Thomas. Her work fuses together sports photography and digital graphics to capture the moment when the athlete is “in the zone.” Thomas uses her own photography, then expands on the piece with graphic design and three-dimensional media.
Thomas’ photos have been featured on ESPN, Maryland.Rivals.com and in The Frederick News Post. In addition, she has published four football photography books. Thomas is pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in art and archaeology with a concentration in studio arts.
“What If” is an exhibition of mixed media by Nikki Frock. Using bright, vibrant colors, she paints silhouetted animals on large, wooden panels.
From Middletown, Md., Frock is pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in art and archaeology with a concentration in studio art and a minor in graphic design.
