Nov. 13-Dec. 8: End-of-semester concert series

FREDERICK, Md.—The Department of Music at Hood College will present several concerts and recitals during November and December featuring student performers.

The concert series will kick off with a junior recital by conductor Ethan Peterson and composer Devin Inman on Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. in Brodbeck Music Hall. The Hood Wind Ensemble, directed by Brian Hinkley, will take the stage Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Coffman Chapel, and the Hood Jazz Ensemble, directed by J. Kevin Lewis, will perform in Coffman Chapel on Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m.

A Candlelight Vespers service will take place Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Coffman Chapel, featuring Hood music ensembles, readings, prayers and numerous Christmas carols sung by all in attendance. On Dec. 5, the honors and advanced student recital at 7:30 p.m. in Brodbeck Music Hall will feature student performers who have been studying music for several semesters. More students will perform in the student recital Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Brodbeck Music Hall. The fall semester concert season will end Dec. 8 when the Hood Early Music Ensemble, under the direction of William Simms, and the Hood String Ensemble, under the direction of RoseAnn Markow Lester, present a joint concert at 7:30 p.m. in Brodbeck Music Hall.
