FREDERICK, Md.—A Frederick coalition focused on supporting the homeless will hold a forum Nov. 15 at Hood College to educate the community about its mission and objectives.
The Frederick County Coalition for the Homeless will hold its annual forum as a part of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Whitaker Campus Center Commons. The coalition will present four theatrical vignettes on “the new face of homelessness” in Frederick County: multi-generational families, homeless public school students, unaccompanied youth and the elderly. In addition, County Executive Jan Gardner will offer insight on the role of government within social services, while State Sen. Ron Young will speak on the importance of collaboration in the community to address new social challenges. Finally, the audience will be able to learn how to participate in working to reduce homelessness and the impact of poverty in Frederick County.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information on the forum, contact the Rev. Beth O’Malley at 301-696-3436 or firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information on the coalition, visit frederickhomelesscoalition.com/how-we-help/mission.
