April 5: Colloquium: novelist Jessica Anya Blau

FREDERICK, Maryland—Acclaimed novelist Jessica Anya Blau will visit Hood College for a colloquium event April 5 at 7 p.m. in the Marx Center.

Blau will be reading from her work and will discuss the craft of novel writing with Amy Gottfried, Ph.D., associate professor of English at Hood.

Blau was born in Boston and raised in Southern California. Her novels have been featured on The Today Show, CNN and NPR, and in “Cosmo,” “Vanity Fair,” “Bust,” “Time Out” and other national publications. Her short stories and essays have been published in numerous magazines, journals and anthologies. She co-wrote the script for “Love on the Run” starring Frances Fisher and Steve Howey, and she collaborated with Regina Calcaterra and Rosie Maloney on “Girl Unbroken,” a memoir released in October 2016. For many years, Jessica taught writing at Johns Hopkins University and Goucher College. Currently, she divides her time between Baltimore and New York.
