Gwyneth Whieldon graduated with a B.A. in Mathematics and Physics from St. Mary's College of Maryland in 2004, then went on to complete a Ph.D. at Cornell University in 2011. Her thesis title was "Betti Numbers of Stanley-Reisner Ideals," and her research is primarily in commutative algebra with an emphasis on algebraic combinatorics. The specific focus of her work is on the combinatorial properties associated to modules over polynomial rings. Her current work is on bounding invariants of resolutions of powers of Stanley-Reisner ideals via Rees Algebras.
