The Linda Mae Snapp Memorial Award In Nursing was established in 2013 by Carol Snapp, Hodson Professor of Nursing, in memory of a family member. The prize is awarded annually to a student in the nursing program based on leadership and service. This year’s recipient is Kimberly Deshazor.
Kimberly is a registered nurse at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Over the course of the BSN completion program at Hood College, she has demonstrated increasing levels of leadership and commitment to health care. Kimberly, along with other students, developed an evidence-based practice project to improve the sleep quality of elders while reducing the use of pharmaceuticals. Already a hospital charge nurse, she has sought experience in primary care to improve her appreciation of the health care system.
