Christine Malone, the area coordinator for community development, is a live-in professional staff member who directly oversees Smith and Shriner halls and the Honors and Language houses. She is responsible for oversight of the residential programming model, campus-wide events led by Residence Life, the living-learning communities and specialized staff training. In addition, Christine, who reports to the director of residence life, serves in a collateral role with ongoing orientation and student success initiatives.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Christine became interested in student affairs after speaking with several student affairs professionals. While completing her graduate work, she served as a graduate assistant with the Office of Residence Life and Housing. She also served as an intern with judicial affairs, student life and housing services throughout graduate school. Prior to coming to Hood College, she began her professional career as a residence hall coordinator at a small university in Columbus, Ohio, where she was involved in program planning, staff recruitment and selection, and she facilitated the RA leadership workshop. Malone earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration and a master of arts degree in counseling: student personnel services.
