My name is Logan Samuels and I currently serve as the President of the Student Government Association for the 2016-2017 academic school year. I have served as a member of the HCSGA for my four-year tenure at Hood and was active as the senate WHIP during my first-year and then for two terms as the Public Relations Chair. I have served in different capacities and under several differing, but tremendous leaders on campus. My vision for the HCSGA this year is to rebrand ourselves and truly be a catalyst for change. The goal of the HCSGA is to represent the students’ voice. I encourage all students to bring their questions, concerns and ideas to the HCSGA so that we can address them and do our best to instill change on campus.
It is imperative that all students use the HCSGA as a resource. If we don’t know how to better your Hood experience, then we simply cannot take action. Many students are not aware that our senate meetings are open to the public. I highly recommend that you attend senate to observe what SGA does and to voice your concerns. We meet in Whitaker Commons on alternating Tuesdays at 9 p.m. and welcome your attendance. The HCSGA executive board has also just introduced new office hours. Each month, we will release a schedule of office hours that display when each executive board member will be available for an hour each in the student life suite. Please feel free to use that time to speak to an executive member one-on-one to bring your thoughts directly to SGA!
I also would like to take the time to share our contact information to keep you all in the loop on all HCSGA events, meetings, roundtable discussions and forums. Our email is email@example.com and we are readily available on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You can also see advertisements about upcoming events and information about who we are on the bulletin board at the top of the Whitaker Campus Center staircase. This year, we have also done our best to revamp the HCSGA website to ensure that it is always up-to-date, easy to navigate and helpful to direct you towards any of your SGA needs!
I greatly welcome feedback and suggestions about how HCSGA operates or what we can do to better assist students on campus. Please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org as I would love to hear from you or arrange to speak with you.
I look forward to a wonderful school year here at Hood!
