FREDERICK, Md.— An enrollment management professional with more than three decades of experience in the field has been appointed vice president of enrollment management at Hood College.
Terry E. Whittum, former vice president for enrollment management at Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Fla., has joined the Hood executive team and will lead the 18-member admission and financial aid staffs. Whittum's experience in admission, financial aid and enrollment management in higher education have been primarily at small, tuition-driven liberal arts colleges and universities similar to Hood.
"We are fortunate that our national search for this strategically important position has resulted in the appointment of such a highly successful professional," said Hood College President Ronald J. Volpe. "I am confident that Terry will provide outstanding service and leadership to the College."
For the past 10 years he has also served as a senior associate consultant for enrollment management at Noel-Levitz, in a part-time capacity. He has particular expertise in the areas of recruitment, enrollment management, predictive modeling, financial aid leveraging, leadership coaching and strategic enrollment planning.
"I am delighted to join Hood College's dynamic leadership team," Whittum said. "My recent visits to campus and meetings with faculty, staff and students confirmed for me what a wonderful and vibrant institution Hood is.
"Hood is known for its quality students, an exceptional faculty, a committed staff, outstanding academic programs and a beautiful campus. Combine all of this with its location and Hood is ideally suited to serve the needs of the next generation of leaders. I am excited about becoming part of such a great campus and eager to start work on advancing Hood into the future."
