FREDERICK, Md.—Hood College's music department will present its annual World Music Concert Thursday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Hodson Auditorium in Rosenstock Hall.
Ensemble Datura, under the direction of N. Scott Robinson, is the featured performing group. The program includes original world music compositions influenced by music from the Middle East, India and sub-Saharan Africa. The ensemble members are Carnatic vocalist K.S. Resmi, from southern India; New York artist Brandon Terzic, a master of the Arab oud; and percussionists Todd Roach and Robinson, who perform on the hammer dulcimer and a variety of percussion instruments from around the world.
Since 2009, Ensemble Datura has played in venues in the United States, Canada and Europe, including the Vermont Jazz Center, Amherst College and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
The concert is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
