Sixteen new faculty welcomed to campus

FREDERICK, Md.—Hood College welcomed the addition of six new full-time and 10 new part-time faculty members who began their positions at the start of the 2012-13 academic year.

The new full-time faculty includes:
Tiziana Cavinato, Ph.D., visiting assistant professor of biology; Michael Coon, Ph.D., assistant professor of economics; Jeffrey R. Horn, visiting instructor of economics; Marisel N. Torres-Crespo, Ph.D., assistant professor of early childhood education; Glen Weaver, D.M., assistant professor of accounting and management; and Francine Winston Johnson, Ed.D., assistant professor of education.

The new part-time faculty includes:
Ryan Browning, M.F.A., visiting assistant professor of art; Gary E. Cuddington, M.F.A., visiting assistant professor of art; Arun K. Dhar, Ph.D., visiting assistant professor of biology; Steven Giardina, Ph.D., visiting assistant professor of biology; Vincent L. Kohl, instructor of English; Amy Kappel Noggle, Ph.D., visiting assistant professor of education; Amy E. Shell-Gellasch, D.A., assistant professor of mathematics; Lynn L. Staininger, M.M., instructor of music; Leslie V. Wallace, Ph.D., visiting assistant professor of art; and Kelly A. Wolfe, assistant professor of nursing.

More than 2,400 students attend Hood College, including more than 1,400 undergraduates and nearly 1,000 graduate students. There are 115 regular faculty members. Hood offers 30 undergraduate majors, 14 master’s degree programs, five graduate certificate programs and a certification program in education leadership.
