HIST 328 20th Century America

Prerequisite: HIST 217 or HIST 218 or permission of instructor. (Course is offered every three years/3 credits) 

This course explores the problems and issues of American society, both foreign and domestic, from the Progressive Era to the contested election of 2000. It gives particular emphasis to the creation of a huge capitalist market economy, the rise of the United States to world power and engagement in world affairs, the creation of the modern welfare state and the challenge of keeping a mass society democratic.
