2013 Westmaryginiasylvanington: Regional Juried Exhibition

Hodson and Whitaker Galleries,
- June 24: Postmark deadline for mail submissions
- June 30: Deadline for email submissions
- July 10: Notification of acceptance by mail or email.
- July 19-20, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Hand-delivery of accepted work to the Hodson Gallery, Tatem Arts Center
- July 27, 5 p.m.-7 p.m.: Opening reception
- July 27 - August 30: Exhibition run
- August 29, 5 p.m.-7 p.m.: Closing reception
Open to artists, 18 years or older, residing within a 50-mile radius of Frederick, Md. Drawings, installations, paintings, performance, prints, photographs and textiles are accepted. The dimensions of any work may not exceed six feet in any one direction. No weight may exceed 150 pounds. Each artist may submit up to three artworks. Current students, faculty or staff of Hood College are not eligible.
Juror's Award / 2nd Place Award / 3rd Place Award
- The Juror's Award recipient receives a solo exhibition the following summer in either the Whitaker or Hodson gallery.
- Prizes for 2nd and 3rd place will be given.
Each artist submission must include a completed entry form and images of submitted artworks. Each artist may submit up to three artworks. If needed, each artwork may include one detail image in addition to an overview image.
Artists may submit entry information and photographs of artwork via email or mail. If submitting performance, please inquire at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If submitting by email, please send all documents and files to the gallery director at email@example.com. The entry fee should be mailed to the address below.
If submitting by mail, please print completed entry form, entry fee, and include images on a CD or jump drive. Mail all parts in one envelope. Mailed submissions will not be returned.

Incomplete entries will not be considered. The entry fee is not refundable. Hood College reserves the right to refuse accepted artworks that are not suitable for display.
Andrea Pollan is a curator, gallerist, art consultant, writer and appraiser based in Washington, D.C. She has organized more than 135 exhibitions of contemporary art both regionally and nationally and has written numerous catalogs and exhibition brochures. She has managed a large corporate and several private collections. In 2004, after serving as exhibitions director at McLean Project for the Arts for 10 years, she opened an acclaimed curatorial space called Curator’s Office in Washington, D.C. Pollan was the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Arts Administration Fellowship in 1994. She is a member and has served on the D.C. chapter of the ArtTable Board.

All image files should be .jpg or .jpeg files and should be no larger than 1MB each and titled in the following format:
ENTRY_1.jpg, ENTRY_2.jpg, etc., or
ENTRY_1_DETAIL.jpg, ENTRY_2_DETAIL.jpg, etc.
A nonrefundable $10 jurying fee must accompany each artist's submission. Checks or money orders can be made payable to Hood College with a memo stating Regional Juried Exhibition Fee.
Accepted artworks must be hand-delivered or shipped to the gallery at the artist's expense. Artworks to be shipped back to the artist must include return shipping labels and correct return postage. Shipped artworks should be addressed to:

The awards will be announced and presented at the opening reception.
Images of entries accepted into Westmaryginiasylvanington: Regional Juried Exhibition may be used in promotional materials for the exhibition, Hodson and Whitaker galleries, and Hood College.
