The Eleanor MacMillan Nelson Scholarship is awarded to a student in the English and Communication Arts Department.

The Elizabeth Peters—Barbara Michaels Scholarship is awarded to a student for excellence in writing.

The George E. Randall Award is awarded excellence in journalism or writing.

The Myrtle Annis Scott Scholarship is awarded to a student whose work in the English and Communication Arts Department has been outstanding.

The Esther E. Shaw Award is awarded for the best news story appearing in Blue and Grey Today.

The Margaret Condron Sterner Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student who has completed three years at Hood College and has made the most distinguished contribution in the field of creative writing of journalism.

The Virginia Geddert Stone Scholarship is awarded to students majoring in English.

The Alyce Weinberg Honor Scholarship is awarded to a senior majoring in English or communication arts who has done "meritorious work" in English, particularly in communications.
