Instructor of Composition
Biography
I have always enjoyed reading and writing and decided to major in Mass Communication in college, so that I could be a publisher when I graduated. After graduation, I immediately went to graduate school where I worked as a Graduate Assistant at The Career Center at Towson University. During my time there, I really enjoyed working with students and helping them make their writing better and decided I should be a teacher. (By the way, this is not a decision you want to make your last semester of graduate school!) After graduation, I decided not to pursue a career in the publishing industry, and instead went back to school to get my master’s in teaching.
I started my career in the 2007-2008 school year as a high school teacher before making the move to the college level. I have taught at several colleges in Maryland and Colorado where I have spent the majority of my time teaching Composition at various levels, and I have been teaching Composition at Hood since the Fall 2019 semester.
When I am not in the classroom, you can usually find me running (usually somewhere near campus), chauffeuring my children to their activities, spending time with my family and friends, or reading a good book.
