Majors

Majors: 27, Concentrations: 21, Minors: 44

Build it yourself

If you, like many Hood students, are an independent thinker with original ideas, you may want to design your own major. Hood's interdepartmental major allows you to do just that. You'll work closely with a faculty adviser to tailor an interdisciplinary program of study specially suited to your needs and interests.

A great place to design your education

You may know exactly what your major will be. Or you may not have a clue. Experience shows that there are a lot of students in both camps, and it's not unusual for those in the former to change their minds before they declare a major.

Blending structure and choice, Hood's curriculum is ideally suited to both kinds of students. The core includes study in science, mathematics, art, literature, history and the social sciences, allowing you to explore the curriculum, try out your academic interests and build a strong foundation for further study.

Beyond the core, Hood offers an array of choices designed to satisfy your educational needs and to put you on the right track to a satisfying future:

  • 27 majors leading to a bachelor's degree
  • More than 70 total areas of study
  • Pre-professional programs in a variety of fields
  • Dual-degree programs
  • A Graduate School offering 13 master's degrees
  • The ability to create your own major
  • Opportunities to study abroad
