ANOTHER TRUMAN SCHOLAR GRADUATED FROM HOOD: The April 11 issue of Inter(net)actions noted that Whitney A. Trettien '07 joined Diane Anne Lewis ’95 as the only Hood students who have been awarded the Truman Scholarship. However, Hood College has another alumna who received this honor as well, Emily Redman Jones '99. Emily began the rigorous application process while a student at Cottey College and completed her application and was awarded the Truman Scholarship after she transferred to Hood in 1998. |

HOOD COLLEGE TRACK CLUB FIRST TO PARTICIPATE IN NEW ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: As the annual 5K Hood College race was taking place on campus, the track club was in Fredericksburg, Va., becoming the first Hood College athletic team to participate in a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) championship. MAY MADNESS: Remember how beautiful the campus is in the spring? The trees and flowers bloom
and the campus comes alive! This year is no exception. For students, the last
few weeks on campus are filled with papers, senior presentations, end-of-year
performances and final exams. But life on campus is not all work and no play!

ALUMS, TRUSTEES AND FRIENDS SET SAIL! Several alums, trustees and friends
returned to the classroom aboard the the Dee of St. Mary's skipjack. They
joined students who were learning about the life of a Chesapeake Bay waterman
as part of Hood’s Coastal Studies Semester, a travel-based experiential learning
program that provides a solid academic framework for the study of environmental

HOOD SOFTBALL TEAM HEADING TO SALEM, VA., FOR NCAA REGIONAL: After winning the regular season Atlantic Women's College Conference championship Sunday, the softball team will travel to Salem, Va., to face Muskingum College in the opening round of the 2006 NCAA Division III Softball Championship Thursday at 10 a.m. at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex. The Blazers are the No. 8 seed in the regional, while the Muskies are the No. 1 seed. Click
