DO YOU RECOGNIZE ANYONE IN THESE PICTURES? The Historical Society
of Frederick County is asking Hood alums to help identify people,
places and events of hundreds of Hood College photographs. These
photographs are part of the Zimmerman Collection, a collection
of more than 6,000 scanned photographs of mid-20th century people,
places and events in Frederick County. The Society is making
this Frederick Family Album available online in the hopes that
visitors will assist in providing additional identifying information.
Click
here for more information to view the pictures and if you see a person,

THROUGH THE EYES OF CHILDREN – THE RWANDA PROJECT: Social Visionary
Series, Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, 7 p.m., Whitaker Campus Center Commons.
Kesra Hoffman, project coordinator for "Through the Eyes of
Children," will speak to the Hood College community about
this remarkable project and reflect on the tragedy of the Rwandan
genocide. "Through the Eyes of Children" is a photographic
story that began when children from the Imbabazi Orphanage, on
the border of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, were
given disposable cameras and asked to photograph themselves and
their community. This unique photo exhibit, which earned international
attention, captures the reality of the genocide and the impact
it had on the lives of the children, many of whom were left orphaned.
