RECORD ENROLLMENT AGAIN IN 2006-07: For the second straight year there are more students on the Hood College campus than at any time in its 113-year history. This year's enrollment of 2,248 students--which is up from last year's 2,117--includes a record 1,274 students (278 are in the freshman class, pictured above) in Hood's 27 bachelor's degree programs. There are also 974 students seeking master's degrees, certificates or certifications, representing the largest enrollment in the graduate school's 35-year history. KUDOS: Three recent graduates and former members of the cross country/track and field program are exploring and making a difference in our world. Kelly Buriak '06, last year's women's cross country team most valuable player, completed a solo hike of the entire distance of the 2,160-mile Appalachian Trail; Sarah Scheffers '06 is in Thailand with the Peace Corps; and Rachel Collmus '05 is awaiting assignment to Lesotho with the Peace Corps. |
GRAND OPENING OF THE CATHERINE SANDERS MEMORIAL THANATOLOGY LIBRARY: Catherine Sanders, a leader in the field of bereavement research, donated her outstanding professional library to the Hood College Psychology Department upon her death. On Sept. 19, the Hood community celebrated the life and generosity of Ms. Sanders with the opening of the Catherine Sanders Memorial Thanatology Library in Rosenstock Hall. The library will be a wonderful new resource for Hood students. |

AIDS AT 25 YEARS: The Center for Science and Mathematics cordially invites alumnae, alumni and guests to attend the second event of their lecture series "AIDS at 25 Years." Dr. John Coffin, Director of the HIV Drug Resistance Program, NCI-Frederick, will address the Hood community on "New Insights into the HIV-Host Relationship?" HOOD COLLEGE RESTORES AREA STREAMS: Alumnae, alumni and their guests are invited to join Hood College students, faculty, staff and other interested groups for a day of work and fun as they build a better environment through the restoration of area streams.
