MEN'S LACROSSE (0-11, 0-6 CAC): Goalie Sam Hofmann recorded 25 saves in a losing cause for the Blazers against Goucher, two away from tying his single-game school record. Jason Anderson scored his team-leading 15th goal of the spring and Blake Rust also added a tally, his fifth of the season. Hood returns to action Wednesday at local rival McDaniel College before returning home to host Shenandoah University Friday.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE (2-3, 2-0 AWCC): In Hood's only contest last week, the Blazers remained perfect in Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference play with a decisive 16-2 victory over Trinity University (D.C.). Britney Colandreo netted four goals to lead the Blazers while Laurie Burrier and Brandy Noel added three apiece. Hood steps out of conference action this week to host Ferrum College and Georgian Court University.

SOFTBALL (5-11, 3-1 AWCC): The Blazers split a pair of extra inning contests with Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference rival Wilson College. The Phoenix nipped Hood in the bottom of the ninth but Jamie Bussey drove in Tamara Maggard with the eventual game-winning run in the eighth inning of game two as the Blazers rallied to earn a 4-3 victory in the nightcap. Christine Harvey and Jamie Gardner collected a pair of hits in the win. The Blazers then dropped two hard-fought games to the Messiah College Falcons at the Hood Softball Complex. Sara Wastler notched two basehits in both games to extend her hit streak to five in a row.

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TENNIS (MEN: 4-7, 0-2 CAC/WOMEN: 5-8, 1-0 AWCC): In a 7-2 triumph over fellow Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference foe Notre Dame (Md.), Hood won five out of six singles matches and two out of three doubles contests. Christine Ocampos-Barry won at number one singles in three sets, and teamed with partner Laura Wanner to capture second doubles. The Blazers avenged a loss to the Gators in the 2006 AWCC Championship. Hood capped off a successful week with two wins over Lincoln University. Stephanie Garrett, Caitlin Erickson, Lisa Blickenstaff, Dani Hunt, Christina Rosa and Larisa Buriak each won singles and doubles matches. The Hood men's squad put an end to its six-match losing skid with two victories over Lincoln University. Garrett Loomer won both singles and doubles matches against the Lions while Moga Nkate and Carlos Funes won twice at first doubles.

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD (Men: 7-3; Women: 5-3): The Hood College men's and women's track and field teams lowered 10 school records at the Battleground Relays hosted by the University of Mary Washington. Winners included Danielle Sgro, who broke Kelly Buriak's school record in the 10,000 meters (43.10); William Andrews, who became the first Hood athlete to contest the 10,000 meters (37:22.20); and Corey DeMaster in the triple jump (38' 6 3/4"). Steve Delaney picked up two new school records, lowering his mark in the 1500 meters to 4:25.91. He came back to complete a highly unusual double, setting the record in the 400 hurdles in 1:04.80. Matt Haynes tossed the javelin 150' 10" in just his third-ever competition, earning a Capital Athletic Conference qualifying mark. On the women's side, Erica Hamor lengthened her school records in the hammer (60' 2") and javelin (65' 6") throws. Katie Reichard extended her discus record with a throw of 81' 4". The 4x100 meter relay team of Anika Watley, Meredith McDonough, Amanda Kwiatkowski and Katie Thomas dropped a half second off the previous school record (58.58).
