Freshman Andrew Alger was Hood's top finisher at Franklin & Marshall College, carding a 9-over 80 to finish in a tie for 27th place. Evan Chaney (above) recorded a 93 while Daniel Reid and Aaron Prescott finished with scores of 101 and 107, respectively, to round out the Hood foursome. Junior Ryan Junghans shot a 9-over 80 to lead the Blazers to a 14th place finish at Susquehanna Valley Country Club Thursday.
The Blazers travel to Messiah College Tuesday before participating in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament Saturday and Sunday at Piney Branch Golf Club.

Hood will honor its six seniors who laid the foundation for the program before Wednesday's season finale against local rival McDaniel College. Seniors Jason Anderson (above), Sam Hofmann, Will Oconis, Ryan Ruffner, Vince Shirbach and Alex Tkacz are all four-year letterwinners and will be graduating next month.

Senior Lauren Lieb recorded the third shutout of her Blazer career Tuesday as Hood blanked Trinity University (D.C.) 17-0. Sarah Balukoff and Brandy Noel (above) scored five goals apiece while Jen Graham and Kelsey Blackwell each netted a pair. Lauren Perzan, Britney Colandreo and Brittany Hurt also added single tallies in the rout. Hood ended its 2008 season with a loss to top-ranked Salisbury University in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament Sunday.

The Blazers particpated in the program's first Capital Athletic Conference tournament last week as the No. 4 seed and hosted fifth-seeded Wesley College Tuesday in a first-round contest. The Wolverines belted a pair of home runs in the top of the seventh inning en route to a 6-2 victory to advance to the winners' bracket. Sara Wastler (above) was 2-for-4 with a run scored in the loss. Hood then traveled to Salisbury University for an elimination game with the second-seeded York College (Pa.) Spartans. The Blazers mustered just three hits on the day, all by Wastler, Ashley Lenhart and Jen Willison, falling 4-0 to the Spartans to end the spring campaign. Hood eclipsed its win total from 2007 under first-year head coach Kate Barrick and won five CAC games, the most of any women's sport in its first year in the league.

The Blazers topped Trinity University (D.C.) Thursday in its 2008 season finale. Christine Ocampos-Barry, Stephanie Garrett, Larisa Buriak, Caitlin Erickson (above) and Laura Wanner all won their singles matches in straight sets. Ocampos-Barry and Wanner also won at first doubles while Garrett and Erickson teamed up to earn a victory at second doubles. Garrett ended the season with a 9-3 dual match record in singles while the duo of Buriak and Ocampos-Barry led the squad in doubles at 6-4.

The Hood College men's track and field team set six school records and crowned its first ever all-conference athlete at the 2008 Capital Athletic Conference championships hosted by York College (Pa.) Saturday. Freshman Ola Komolafe came charging through the last 200 meters to grab second in the 400 meters with a very solid 49.91. Later in the meet, he returned to run lead-off leg for Hood's Penn Relays qualifying 4x400 meter relay, which finished third in 3:29.56, a new school record. He becomes Hood College's first all-CAC track and field male athlete. Other record setting performances included Matt Haynes (above) in the discus, hammer and shot put and the 4x100 relay squad of Ryan Jenkins, Tomilayo Komolafe, Mike Cahill and Ola Komolafe.

Junior Jessica Parrish captured individual titles in both the 100 and 200 meter dash Saturday at the 2008 Capital Athletic Conference championships hosted by York College (Pa.). Last year's women's team scored six points at CACs and finished in sixth place, scoring in only three events. This year's women's team scored 49 points, finished fourth, had 12 scoring marks and set six new school records.
Leading the way was Parrish who won the 100 meters (13.04) and 200 meters (26.26). Danielle Sgro complemented the effort by finishing second in the 10,000 meters with a new school record 41:24.23, a personal best by almost one minute. By finishing in the top two Parrish and Sgro became the first Hood female runners to earn all-conference honors.
Katie Thomas (above) picked up sixth in the high jump with a new school record 4' 8 3/4", sixth in long jump with a new school record 15' 8 1/4", and sixth in the 400 meter hurdles.
