Hood suffered a tough 94-87 setback in overtime to the visiting Gettysburg College Bullets Saturday at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School. Senior Jesse Gutekunst paced the Blazers with 23 points on 10-of-19 from the floor and picked off five steals. Junior Anthony Bennett (above) matched his career-high with 19 points before fouling out in overtime, while junior Ryan Junghans finished with 17 points and junior Tim Abercrombie tallied 11 points and dished out four assists.
The Blazers have a busy week ahead with three games on the docket. Hood hosts Penn State University-York in its final nonconference game of the season Monday before traveling to CAC rivals Marymount University (Wednesday) and Wesley College (Saturday).

The Blazers return to the hardwood Monday for the first time since Dec. 8 hosting Penn State University-York in a nonleague contest at 6 p.m. Hood also travels to a pair of Capital Athletic Conference rivals Wednesday (Marymount University) and Saturday (Wesley College). Sophomore Jen Willison (above) currently leads the squad in scoring (12.2 points per game) and rebounding (8.2 boards per game). Classmate Whitney Boyer tops the Blazer assist chart with 20 and has picked off 13 steals. The perimeter tandem of Whitney Schultheis and Sara Wastler has combined for 22 three-point baskets.

In Saturday's Capital Athletic Conference meet at Salisbury, senior Jason Kinder (above) was a double winner in the 500 free (5:15.51) and the 1000 free (10:45.82). Junior Matt Haynes captured the 100 fly (1:00.61) and freshman Kyle Atras took top honors in the 100 free (1:15.03). Freshman Robert Ennis finished third in the 200 individual medley (2:19.28) and second in the 100 breast (1:09.06). The Blazers are off this week before traveling to CAC foe Gallaudet University Jan. 19.

In Saturday's Capital Athletic Conference meet at Salisbury, senior Katie Hitchens won the 50 free (26.28) and came in second in the 100 free (58.94). Freshman Kim Wolfgang (1:07.27) and sophomore Katie Reichard (above) (1:23.87) went 1-2 in the 100 back while senior Amy Kaufman (5:31.91) and freshman Melissa Masino (7:00.89) also took first and second, respectively, in the 500 free. Senior Lenore Brown won the 100 breast (1:19.53) and the 200 free relay of Kaufman, Ashley Garyn, Masino and Reichard also took first place (2:04.67). The Blazers are off this week before traveling to CAC foe Gallaudet University Jan. 19.
