WOMEN'S LACROSSE (3-8, 2-1 AWCC): Hood wrapped up the regular season last week against the College of Notre Dame (Md.) and Marymount University. The Blazers travel this weekend to Aurora, N.Y., for the 2007 Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference tournament hosted by Wells College. Hood, the No. 2 seed, battles the host Express Saturday at 2 p.m. in the second semifinal matchup. The consolation and championship games are Sunday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.

SOFTBALL (11-17, 5-1 AWCC): The Blazers swept an Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference doubleheader from Mary Baldwin College to secure the regular season championship and the top seed in this weekend's conference tournament. Hood and Wilson College finished the regular season with identical AWCC records (5-1) but the Blazers won the tiebreaker by virtue of its higher run differential against league opponents. Hood, the defending AWCC champions, travel to Frostburg State Tuesday for their final tuneup before the conference tournament.

WOMEN'S TENNIS (8-10, 4-0 AWCC): The women's tennis team crowned two singles champions and claimed two doubles titles but came up short in the team standings at the 2007 Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference tournament Sunday. In singles action, Stephanie Garrett bested Notre Dame's Marie Claire Santiago, 7-5, 6-1, to claim the No. 3 singles crown, while Dani Hunt downed Dame's Ali Phillips, 7-5, 6-0, for the sixth singles championship. The tandem of Laura Wanner and Christine Ocampos-Barry defeated Dame's Santiago and Roxana Beyranvand, 10-3, to capture the No. 2 doubles title and Garrett and Caitlin Erickson earned a hard-fought 10-8 victory over Dame's Allison Najewicz and Yorie Watanabe for the No. 3 doubles championship. In the final team standings, Notre Dame finished with 46 points while the Blazers claimed runner-up honors with 41 points.

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD (Men: 7-3; Women: 5-3): Hood hosted the Blazer 5K Sunday. Forty-one men and 55 women completed the 5000 meter course. Danielle Sgro was the top finisher amongst the women in a time of 20:50.43. On the men's side, Faraz Shai finished third (18:02.09) and Brendan Greenlees placed fourth (18:07.21) to lead the Blazer student-athlete contingent. Hood travels to Towson Saturday for the Goucher College Invitational and will host the Frederick Marathon & Relay Sunday.
