MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY (0-0, 0-0 CAC): Junior Nick Manning was Hood's top finisher in the men's race, finishing in fourth place in the individual competition. Three other Blazers earned medals for placing in the top 15, including senior Faraz Shoai (seventh), sophomore William Andrews (ninth) and sophomore Blair Ames (11th). Senior Steve Delaney, who ran in his program-record 25th cross country race, finished 19th to round out Hood's top five. In the team competition, host Wilmington, a Division II school, outdistanced Hood by just four points. In the women's race, junior Danielle Sgro crossed the tape first for the Blazers in sixth place overall. Freshman Lauren Smith took ninth, senior April Penn was 16th, sophomore Jen Willison (left) placed 18th and junior Katie Thomas finished 19th to comprise Hood's top five.

FIELD HOCKEY (2-4, 0-1 CAC): Hood hung with Division II Seton Hill College last week in its only match of the week, holding the Griffins to just four goals. Freshman Patsy Davis (left) and the Blazers bookend the athletics slate this week with home games Monday (Wilson College) and Sunday (Sweet Briar College). Hood earned a hard-fought 1-0 overtime win over Wilson Monday thanks to Lauren Perzan's penalty stroke just 1:18 into the extra session. It was Hood's first win over the Phoenix (5-3) since 2004. The Blazers will also be looking to avenge a 4-0 loss to the Vixens (2-4) from 2005.

MEN'S SOCCER (3-5, 0-3 CAC): Seniors Craig Wachter and Tom Noonan scored Hood’s lone goals of the week. Sophomore keeper Shawn Fernholz (left) made a season-high 12 saves against top-ranked York College (Pa.) Monday. The Blazers have been streaky this season, losing their first two before winning three in a row and most recently have dropped three straight. Hood looks to turn things around and secure its first CAC win of the year Wednesday against the University of Mary Washington (6-2, 1-0 CAC).

WOMEN'S SOCCER (1-7, 0-2 CAC): Hood broke out of its scoring slump in a big way against Wilson Tuesday, scoring nine goals, one score away from tying the single-game school record. Sophomore Nikki Antalffy (left) became the eighth Blazer to net a hat trick against the Phoenix. Several Blazers netted their first collegiate goals this week including Katherine Rendon, Jessica Parrish, Chelsea Kinna and Alexa Hubicki (against Frostburg). Hubicki also matched the school record with three assists in the Wilson game. Hood wraps up its six-game road swing Wednesday at Wesley College (7-3, 1-2 CAC) before returning home Friday to host Southern Virginia University (4-2).

VOLLEYBALL (2-12, 0-2 CAC): Hood put forth a valiant effort against Marymount University, rallying from a 2-0 deficit to capture the third set, 37-35, but eventually fell in four games to the Saints. Senior Jamie Bussey had a season-high 34 digs and freshman Kristina Straub notched a double-double with 21 assists and 16 digs while senior Ashley Bryan (left) keyed the offense with 15 kills. Hood looks for its first CAC win this week with a pair of league matches against Villa Julie College (11-3, 0-2 CAC) and Salisbury University (13-5, 2-0 CAC).
