Campus Safety

Clery Act

Hood College has been publishing annually and complies with Title II of the Federal Campus Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990. Amendments to the original law were submitted and signed into law in Oct. 1998. These amendments added categories and locations to the original report. View the latest statistics effective Sept. 1, 1998.

On behalf of the Department of Campus Safety, welcome to Hood College.  We are here to do all we can to help you make your time at the college both enjoyable and safe.

  • Hood College is committed to providing a safe campus environment for it's students, faculty, and staff.

The Department of Campus Safety provides law enforcement and protective services to the campus. While our campus safety department (and it's personnel) are responsible for insuring that our campus remains as safe as possible, the primary responsibility for crime prevention and personal safety rests with each individual. Each of us must take personal responsibility for our own safety, as well as for the safety of those around us.

  • Working together, we will continue to make Hood College among the safest colleges in the country.

Please review the information on this web site to become familiar with the programs and services provided by the college so you may become involved as a responsible member of the college community.

  • No Community is immune to crime.

On any college campus, the level of crime is affected by enrollment, geographic size, location, and other factors. Hood College is among the safest in the country. As with other colleges, many campus crimes are committed by members of the college community against others in the same community, especially property crimes. Property crimes account for 98% of all crimes in our campus community.

The most common type of crime at Hood is:

Theft of unattended property such as book bags, purses, and briefcases.

  • Most campus crimes can be prevented. At Hood, crime prevention is a partnership between the College and you. You can prevent crime by making safe behavior part of your lifestyle.

Thank you for visiting our web site and we urge you to take advantage of of the many safety programs given by Hood College. We will do our best to provide you with a safe learning and living environment. With your cooperation I'm certain we will have an exciting and safe year!
