FREDERICK, Md.—The 32nd Annual Summer Chamber Music Festival continues July 14 with a 7:30 p.m. concert in Hood College’s Brodbeck Music Hall.
The Sidney Silverman Young Artists Concert is presented each year thanks to a bequest from the late Sidney Silverman, a former biology professor at Hood and an ardent music lover. This year will feature nine accomplished students from Hood’s music preparatory program: pianists Jinghan Sun, David Timonera and Kevin Lin; violinists Keiko Luke and Caleb Luke; flutist Maddie Hurwitz; clarinetist Anyshka Singhai; and cellist Evelyn Yelm. Justin Furnia, who graduated from Hood in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in piano performance, will play piano accompaniment.
Other concerts on the Summer Chamber Music Festival schedule are the Phyllis and Ardine Gorden String Concert featuring the Aeolus String Quartet July 21 and the Cole Porter Songbook featuring the Kevin Lewis Jazz Quartet July 28.
The festival is free and open to the public. Brodbeck Music Hall is air-conditioned and handicapped accessible. For more information contact Wayne L. Wold at firstname.lastname@example.org or 301-696-3782.
