Visit Campus

We think visiting campus should be easy! That's why we have many different visit options throughout the year to enable you to experience Hood College. Whether it's your first visit or your fifth, we'll make sure you have the opportunity to learn exactly what makes Hood so special.

Weekday Visits for First-Year Students

Our visits begin during either the morning or the afternoon, Monday through Friday. During the visit, first-year students will interview with an admission counselor and take a student-led campus tour. Please register one week in advance. To register, click here or call 301-696-3400.

Weekday Visits for Transfer Students

Our visits begin during either the morning or the afternoon, Monday through Friday. During the visit, transfer students will interview with an admission counselor and have the option to take a student-led campus tour. Transfer students can also request to have their college transcript(s) unofficially evaluated prior to their scheduled appointment. Please register one week in advance. "Blazer for a Day" Campus Visit Experiences

 We would be thrilled to host you for a personalized visit experience! Most Blazer for a Day visits include the opportunity to sit in on a class of your choice, eat lunch in the dining hall with a current student, meet with an admission counselor and take a student-led campus tour. These visits can be for your family members too; appointments with financial aid are available while you are in class!  Most visits will begin around 9 a.m. and conclude by 1 p.m.  To schedule a Blazer for a Day visit, click here or call 301-696-3400.

Saturday Visits

The Office of Admission offers group presentations and student-led campus tours from 10 a.m. until noon.  The below dates are for students interested in attending Hood College as freshman unless otherwise noted.  Please click here or call 301-696-3400 to register.

Spring Break 2017 Extended Visit Options

April 10 through April 21, we will offer extended weekday visit options, available Monday through Friday. In addition to our regular morning and afternoon weekday visit times, we will be offering additional tour and interview. Each visit will include an admission interview and student-led campus tour.

Transfer Student Instant-Admission Days

Instant-Admission Day for undergraduate transfer students is the opportunity to have your application materials reviewed for general admission consideration to Hood College for the fall 2017 semester. Qualified students will receive an offer of admission prior to leaving campus! Please review the following guidelines before registering for an appointment:

  • A qualified student will be seeking general admission for fall 2017, only
  • A student’s application for fall 2017 admission must be submitted two days prior to the instant-admission date you register for
  • The application can be found at www.hood.edu/apply
  • A qualified student is interested in completing a B.A. or a B.S. degree
  • A GPA of 2.5 or higher is encouraged
  • A student must bring an unopened/sealed official transcript(s) for all colleges and universities attended or confirm that official transcript(s)s are on file in the Office of Admission prior to registering for an appointment
  • All decisions are contingent upon the receipt of the final, official college transcript.

Admission staff are located in Admission House and are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on select Saturdays. The address is 410 Martha Church Drive, Frederick, MD 21701.

Visitors to the Admission House should enter Hood College on the main drive (Hood Drive).  At the stop sign in front of Alumnae Hall, turn right.  At the stop sign at Martha Church Drive, turn right.  The entrance to access reserved parking for the Admission House will be on the left, just past the Admission House.  Park and make your way into the Admission House using the rear entrance where a member of our staff will greet you.
