Debbie Ricker, Ph.D., began as Hood College’s provost and vice president of academic affairs on July 1, 2016.

She and her partner, Christopher, live on campus in East Cottage, with their two rescue dogs, Penny and Lucy.

Academic Background

Ricker earned a Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University, a master’s degree from East Tennessee State University and a bachelor’s degree from Mars Hill University.

Ricker’s efforts led to record-setting first-year retention and graduation rates.

Spearheaded the development of new undergraduate programs in public health, sustainability studies, art therapy, cybersecurity and finance.
