The Graduate School at Hood College presented the 2019 Jenny E. Nunn Outstanding Curriculum & Instruction Student Award to Marissa Luipersbeck, current graduate student in Hood College's C&I program. This award is funded by Janet Spaulding Nunn, in honor of her daughter, Jenny.
Marissa is currently a 7th grade life science teacher at Mt. Airy Middle School in Carroll County. She is in her 6th year teaching middle school students. In 2017 and 2019, Marissa received a Carroll County Outstanding Teacher award. Also in 2019, she received the Wilhelm Scholarship from the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce which supported her education here Hood. For her graduate action research project, Marissa researched phenomena-based learning and its impact on students' academic achievement and engagement in her life science classroom.
