Curiosity is key.  Curiosity is what helped Karen Uhlenbeck become the first woman to win the prestigious Abel Prize, from the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.

Christy Graybeal, Ph.D., Director of the M.S. in Mathematics Education and M.S. in Mathematics Instructional Leadership programs at Hood College, also believes curiosity is an essential part of mathematics teaching and learning.  "Our graduate programs are designed to foster teachers' curiosity about mathematics content and pedagogy as well as help teachers learn how to foster their students' curiosity about mathematics."
