Can you provide a quick bio? Any general background that you would like to share, as well as your educational and career background.

My name is Robert C. Whetsel, Ph.D and I am a Chief Technical Advisor with the Department of Defense. I am a problem solver and an expert at building and maintaining partnerships with academia, private industry, and the public sector. I drive digital transformation within government through diversity of minds, emerging technologies, applied innovation, and thoughtful workforce futures. I strive to bring an entrepreneur's spirit into government wherever possible. I have helped several startups, companies of all sizes, and government agencies to create their own strategy and innovation paths enabling them to successfully address unique public sector needs.

I received a certificate in Strategy and Innovation from MIT's Management Executive Education series, a Master's of Science in Computer Science from Hood College, and a Doctorate degree in Computer Science. I have conducted research and published several papers on the topic of big data analytics.

Why did you choose Hood College Graduate School?

The artificial intelligence (AI) focus within the M.S. in Computer Science and a former Hood College professor, Randy Ford, Ph.D, motivated me to enroll in Hood College Graduate School.

How has your Hood College graduate degree helped further your career and/or your life?

I entered the federal government at a senior level largely in part thanks to my Hood College education and applied experience.

What did you enjoy about Hood College? Do you have a favorite memory?

The small classes and the first AI class with Dr. Ford - looking for an intelligent elevator.
