During the weekend of June 21 – 23, 2019, Hood College hosted the Imaging Science and Cancer Biology Symposium in partnership with Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc.

This interdisciplinary symposium showcased the latest technologies and advances in imaging science and cancer research.

The conference kicked off with a Friday evening keynote lecture given by Otis Brawley, M.D., a leading scientist at Johns Hopkins University. His keynote addressed the topic of providing the benefits of cancer science to all Americans. As a dedicated researcher and teacher, Dr. Brawley is committed to training the next generations of physicians and researchers to help reduce the threat of cancer.

Hood College Biomedical Science and Bioinformatics graduate students attended this symposium which was open to the general public. According to April Boulton, Ph.D., Dean of the Graduate School at Hood College, “this symposium represents one of the myriad of opportunities we provide to our biomedical and bioinformatics students to complement classroom learning and connect them to current research”.
