April Boulton, Ph.D., dean of the Graduate School, reflected on the award, saying, “This new support will help us attract and retain the populations often absent in STEM fields—marginalized students from low-income backgrounds. We are excited to bolster the diversity in our STEM programs with this generous award from a long-time, loyal alumna, Cheryl Parrott.”

In addition to the two endowed scholarships, Parrott also supports the Graduate School through an Outstanding Student Award in counseling. Parrott earned a graduate degree in thanatology from Hood in 2006 and spoke at the College’s 2009 commencement ceremony. In that same year, Parrott joined the College’s Board of Associates. She lives in Middletown with her husband, The Reverend Jack N. Anderson.
