Hood College to offer free virtual “FAFSA Focus” Seminars to Increase Financial Aid Literacy

Seminars to continue in January, aim to boost Maryland FAFSA Registration

FREDERICK, Md., —The Hood College Office of Financial Aid will offer free “FAFSA Focus” virtual seminars to encourage prospective Maryland students to file for federal financial aid before Maryland’s March 1 submission deadline.

The second of three seminars will be held on January 12 at 6:30 p.m. ET and is open for registration now. The seminar will cover tips for first-time FAFSA filers and walk through the process of completing the form.

The first of three scheduled FAFSA Focus seminars was held on November 19, and can be viewed on the Hood College YouTube channel.

“Filling out a FAFSA is the most important step you can take to apply for money to help pay for your education,” said Bill Brown, vice president for enrollment management. “Hood College has an incredibly knowledgeable and accessible staff who will walk you through the application process and answer any questions you have.”

Within the past year, Hood has also offered seminars on paying for college at the beginner and intermediate levels with the aim of expanding financial aid literacy for both current and potential higher education students in the area.

Hood also offers a directory of educational resources as part of the College’s commitment to assisting students in reaching their academic goals via private higher education.
