Learn How to Advance Your Career at Hood College’s Graduate School

FREDERICK, Maryland—Hood College’s Graduate school is hosting two events on Nov. 6 to show prospective students opportunities to advance their careers. An admission café virtual open house will take place from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. and a speed mentoring event is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Whitaker Commons.

The admission café will enable prospective students to learn about the Graduate School at Hood College and specific programs of interest—all from home or work during the lunch hour. Participants will learn how Hood’s Graduate School caters to working professionals with evening and weekend classes, program structure, curricular outcomes, career advancement and more. It will provide an opportunity to engage directly with a member of the admission team and will include a brief presentations on the following topics:

  • 12:15-12:22 p.m. Master of Business Administration
  • 12:23-12:30 p.m. Computing (Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity)
  • 12:30-12:37 p.m. Biology and Big Data (Bioinformatics, Biomedical Science, Environmental Biology)
  • 12:38-12:45 p.m. Education (Reading, Math, STEM, Leadership and more)

The speed mentoring event is co-sponsored by the Greater Maryland chapter of Graduate Women in Science (GWIS). Attendees can explore new ways to grow their network and optimize their career savvy. Participants will rotate to a new mentor every 10 minutes and are encouraged to bring their current résumé, LinkedIn profile or other artifacts for mentor feedback.  The event is designed to support women in STEM professions, and all the mentors are successful women with thriving STEM careers. In addition to speed mentoring sessions, keynote speakers will include: “Optimizing your LinkedIn Profile” with Kyle LeBlanc, founder of Resumoxie, and “Interview Secrets” with Lisa Littlefield, director of Hood’s career center.
