Science is Fun at Hood
Every summer, hundreds of area youth attend the GEMS programs on Hood’s campus to engage in the sciences. GEMS—Gains in the Education of Mathematics and Science—is an extra-curricular program funded by the Army Educational Outreach Program that allows students to experience science in a laboratory setting. See what the kids are up to, and check out the smiles! Hood undergraduate students and area high school students serve as Near Peer Mentors by assisting the youth with their science and engineering experiments.
