Virtual Speed Mentoring for Women in STEM
Hood College’s Graduate school is hosting a virtual Speed Mentoring and Career Workshop for Women in Science on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
The speed mentoring event is co-sponsored by the Greater Maryland chapter of Graduate Women in Science (GWIS). Attendees will explore new ways to grow their network and optimize their career savvy. Participants will rotate to a new mentor every 10 minutes to breakout rooms where they can discuss career options, receive direct feedback on their resume and LinkedIn profile, and have one-on-one time with women who have successful careers in STEM. Participants are encouraged to have their current résumé, LinkedIn profile or other artifacts for mentor feedback. The event is designed to support women in STEM professions, and all the mentors are successful women with thriving STEM careers. In addition to speed mentoring sessions, keynote topics will include: “Optimizing your LinkedIn Profile” and “Interview Secrets.”
Some speed mentoring sessions will include:
- Is a Ph.D. right for me?
- Is a master’s degree right for me?
- Secrets for obtaining a science grant
