Ahmed Salem

Biography

Ahmed H. Salem, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Computer Engineering  and the Department Chair of Computer Science and Information Technology at Hood College, Frederick, Maryland. Also serving as the director of Master of information Technology at Hood College Graduate School.

During his tuner at Hood college, Salem established an international program in the M.S. of Information Technology with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and India.  His principal research project involve cyber security and Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligent, and Data Mining. His most recent research involved in using machine learning algorithms to detect abnormalities in network traffic.

Salem received an B. S. in Electrical Engineering from Cairo, Egypt and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering from University of Louisville, Kentucky. He is a member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a life fellow of The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and The International Symposium on Computer Architecture (ISCA). He served as reviewer for the IEEE Symposiums, and for ISCA International Society for Computers and Their Applications Journal and Conferences. Also he was Session Chair for the 21st International Conference on Computer Applications in Industry and Engineering, (CAINE 2008) on Distributed Systems. Among his awards are Recognition Award from Office of the Secretary of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve as a Patriotic Employer –ESGR. April 2012, Certificate of Recognition from the Fulbright Commission for participating in the Fulbright International Ph.D. scholar selection committee for the year 2009-2012. Certificate of Recognition, University of Louisville, Speed Scientific School of Engineering in National Engineering Day, 2001. Salemhas served on numerous advisory committees, international conference and workshop.
