Hood College's Statement on Bias

Biased conduct is any derogatory act that targets individuals or groups based on perceived or actual identity. To be considered a bias incident, the act is not required to be a crime under any federal, state or local statutes. Bias categories may include sex, sexual orientation, race, color, gender identity, disability, ethnicity, national origin, age, religion, military, pregnancy, genetic information and marital status.

Hood College takes allegations of bias very seriously and will review every report individually. Every incident reported may not meet the criteria of a policy violation or a violation of law. For individuals who are found responsible for a policy or law violation, the governing handbooks and codes for faculty, staff or students will be utilized to determine the appropriate accountability measures. For instances where a policy or law violation is unsubstantiated, the College will intervene with education for the alleged and support for the complainant as appropriate.
