Hood College Receives Accolades from U.S. News & World Report

FREDERICK, Maryland—Hood College has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a Best Regional University, a Best Value School and a Best College for Veterans.

Hood is ranked 43rd in Best Regional Universities (North) and 33rd among private institutions; no. 16 in Best Value Schools; and no. 24 for Best Colleges for Veterans.

“We are proud to once again be recognized by U.S. News for providing a high-quality and affordable education to our students,” said Hood College President Andrea E. Chapdelaine. “Our dedicated faculty and staff work hard every day to create a great learning environment for our students.”

Several new initiatives are bolstering Hood’s academic programs. In partnership with the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, the College will cohost an annual scientific forum that will cover topics reflecting the “cutting-edge” of current research. The partnership will also expand research and training opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students at the Frederick National Laboratory and provide professional development programs for Hood faculty and national laboratory staff.

In the spring, Hood graduated its first ever students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Completion Program, the Master of Science in Cybersecurity and Master of Science in Bioinformatics.

Students this fall are the first admitted to The George B. Delaplaine Jr. School of Business. George B. Delaplaine Jr., a prominent Frederick businessman, provided a major gift to endow the new School of Business. The funds will support faculty recruitment and development, academic programming, faculty and student research, and general administrative needs.

The Graduate School’s doctoral program welcomed its third and largest cohort of 20 students this semester. Students in the program can choose to pursue the Doctorate of Organizational Leadership or the Doctorate of Business Administration.
