Zero Hunger
End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture 1
The UN has identified 8 Targets for this Goal:
Target Goal 2.4 By 2030, end hunger and ensure access by all people, in particular the poor and people in vulnerable situations, including infants, to safe, nutritious and sufficient food all year round
By partnering with local organizations, Hood’s Center for Coastal and Watershed Studies founded and operates the Frederick Food Security Network to establish a series of local urban gardens and a distribution network to provide fresh vegetables to low income families in our community.
The Frederick Food Security Network is also embarking on a pilot project to expand local urban food production by employing hydroponic methods which conserve water and are resilient in the face of climate change and weather extremes.
