The Purpose of Title IX
The purpose of Title IX is to end discrimination on the basis of sex in education and applies to all programs and activities that receive federal funding.
Title IX encompasses many forms of sex-based discrimination, including, but not limited to addressing sexual misconduct (including sexual harassment), sexual violence (including sexual assault and domestic/dating/intimate partner violence), and stalking.
Hood College is dedicated to providing a learning, living, and working environment that is free from sex-based discrimination. We are committed to ensuring a safe campus climate for all of our students and the entire campus community. Hood College promotes the protection of civil rights all campus constituents through a variety of modalities and complies with the requirements of Title IX and other applicable laws.
What is the Role of the Title IX Coordinator?
The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for ensuring Hood College’s compliance with Title IX requirements such as:
- Dissemination of the Hood College Nondiscrimination Statement, Title IX Policy, and Grievance Process
- Responding to all complaints of sexual harassment as defined by Title IX
- Overseeing Title IX Grievance Process including investigations, hearings, and enforcing sanctions
- Coordinating Campus Climate Surveys
- Overseeing training for students and employees
The Title IX Coordinator collaborates with various committees and departments to provide education and training to help prevent incidents discrimination. The Title IX Coordinator follows the law to provide supportive measure to both complainants and respondents, stop alleged sexual harassment, and to prevent recurrence of the sexual harassment behavior.

Section 106.45(b) of the 2020 Final Title IX Rules require the sharing of “[a]ll materials used to train Title IX Coordinators, investigators, decision-makers, and any person who facilitates an informal resolution process. A recipient must make these training materials publicly available on its website, or if the recipient does not maintain a website the recipient must make these materials available upon request for inspection by members of the public.”
For purposes of compliance with section 106.45 of the Title IX Final Rules, this page includes all training materials utilized to train Title IX Coordinators, investigators, decision-makers, and any person who facilitates and informal resolution process in Title IX compliance and practices as of October 20, 2022.
